Introducing... A Natural Approach to Chemistry
A Natural Approach to Chemistry takes a fresh new look at how chemistry is used today, in and out of the laboratory.
Emphasis is placed on teaching students why and how chemistry occurs, using the three over-arching themes of energy, atoms, and systems. More traditional topics, such
as states of matter, reactions, pH, electrochemistry, and stoichiometry are also covered in the course. Frequent examples from the human body and the environment are
used to help students make connections to everyday life.
Join fellow educators from across
the country as we invite you to attend one of our 2009 SEPUP Academies.
Locations include:
Charleston, SC
Silverthorne, CO
This year, you have a choice as to the type of academy you wish to attend. The Charleston Academy is designed for schools and districts to increase their local capacity for
training and leadership. The other two academy locations will focus on increasing the effective use of SEPUP in the classroom. All conferences will be led by SEPUP Certified
Trainers, SEPUP Developers and LAB-AIDS Staff.
A Natural Approach to Chemistry takes a fresh look at how chemistry is used today, in and out of the laboratory.
This seminar series, presented by author Dr. Tom Hsu is based on his new book A Natural Approach to Chemistry
which integrates a modern approach to chemistry that stresses a molecular understanding of why chemistry happens.
The seminars will also showcase the new text, lab materials and the new lab probeware system Dr. Hsu developed for the program.

About Lab-Aids
In 1963, LAB-AIDS was founded based on a unique and exciting
idea at the time – helping science teachers to prepare a more
meaningful "hands-on" experience in the classroom. The idea was
based on the belief that a complete lab activity could be
packaged at an economical "cost per student," and that these
"packages" would save teachers hours of lab preparation time.

LAB-AIDS APPLIED SCIENCE CONCEPTS MODULES
Developed in collaboration with The University of
Kentucky Physics Group, the module activities relate to everyday
experiences that involve events or objects in the home, school or
workplace, making science more relevant to students. Materials for 160
students and a comprehensive teacher’s guide with CD are included.
